HERSHEY, PA – The Hershey Bears have named veteran forward Matt Moulson the club’s 44th captain in team history. Moulson, who played his 1,000th professional game with the Bears during the 2019-20 season, becomes the first player to wear the captain’s emblem on his jersey since Garrett Mitchell last held the honor during the 2017-18 season.

Moulson represented the Bears in the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic, wearing the captaincy for the Atlantic Division during the festivities in Ontario, CA. During the 2019-20 season, Moulson collected 41 points (22 goals, 19 assists) in all 62 games and signed a one-year AHL contract to return to the club for 2020-21. Previously, Moulson served as an alternate captain for the team in his first season.
Moulson’s experience and leadership were huge assets for the Bears in 2019-20 after the team saw a lot of its previous veteran group depart in free agency. With a lot of young and developing players on the roster, Moulson’s veteran presence and example are great for them to look up to as well as gain insight from his years playing in the NHL. Having a player of his caliber is a rare opportunity, and it is great to see a player wearing the captaincy in Hershey once again.
