Greenville Hopping Into New Season

GREENVILLE, S.C. – On March 12, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits announced the suspension of regular season play for the remainder of the 2019-20 season. Two days later, the entire 2019-20 ECHL season was canceled, the Rabbits ending the season third in the South Division and well on their way to the 2020 Kelly Cup Playoffs after showing improvements through the season.

Now, after a long spring and summer loaded with uncertainty, the first ten games on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits schedule have been announced. The Rabbits are one of 13 teams beginning their season on December 11th and playing a 72-game season, while the remaining teams (with the exception of the Atlanta Gladiators who have voluntarily suspended their season due to concerns regarding COVID-19) will commence their 62-game seasons on January 15, 2021 in a split-season format.

The Swamp Rabbits will kick off their season December 11th in North Charleston, S.C. against the South Carolina Stingrays. They then head down to Jacksonville, Florida the next day to face the Jacksonville Icemen. The Rabbits come back up for their “Heroes of the Upstate” home opener on Friday, December 18th against the Florida Everblades, a back-to-back as they play the Everblades again that Saturday on “Holiday Hockey & Hope” night.

Just in time for the holidays, The Swamp Rabbits will host the South Carolina Stingrays on December 26, 2020 and January 1st, 2021, bringing in the New Year with a 2:00 PM puck drop for “Tailgate on the Terrace.”
