JACKSONVILLE, Fla – The Jacksonville Icemen held Pucks & Paws night on Saturday against the visiting Adirondack Thunder. In the second of back-to-back games, Jacksonville took a 5-2 victory to split the series. This score was identical to the previous night in which Adirondack took the win.
After a scoreless first period, Ara Nazarian scored his first of the night just nine seconds into the second period to put Jacksonville on the board. An assist from Jake Goldowski gave him his first professional career point in the ECHL. Adirondack answered back 60 seconds later on a goal from Ryan Smith. Nazarian scored his second of the night on a shorthanded goal setup by Christopher Brown in the closing minutes of the second to put the Icemen up 2-1.
Less than two minutes into the third period, Nazarian got the hat trick with his third goal of the night, followed by several hats being thrown onto the ice. A power-play goal by the Thunder’s Brett Ouderkirk made it a one-goal game again. The Icemen also had a power-play goal by Luke Lynch on a rebound from Nazarian’s shot that hit the post for a two-goal lead. An easy empty-net goal from Christopher Brown sealed the victory for the Icemen. The win for Jacksonville maintains their first-place position in the South Division with a three-point lead over second place.
