KNOXVILLE, Tenn – The Knoxville Ice Bears hosted the Fayetteville Marksmen Saturday night in front of a sold-out Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
Both teams struggled to generate offense in the first period. Twenty four seconds into the second period, Bailey Conger put Knoxville on top 1-0. Less than a minute later, Austin Alger tied the game with a goal for Fayetteville.
Nick Mangone put the Marksmen ahead halfway through the second, but Dino Balsamo tied the game with about eight minutes left in the third period which set the game into overtime. Knoxville controlled the puck for most of the overtime period. Justin MacDonald carried the puck into the offensive zone and fed a pass over to Balsamo who put the one timer in the back of the net. The Ice Bears defeated the visiting Marksmen 3-2.
