ROANOKE, Va – The Force was with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, as they held Star Wars Night, defeating the Fayetteville Marksmen with a score of 5-1 on Friday, with almost 4800 fans filling the Berglund Center Friday night as the players took the ice.
The first period ended scoreless, but Roanoke added four goals in the second period within the first seven minutes. Both teams added a goal in the third period. The explosive stats continued, as Roanoke had 41 shots on goal, doubling the 20 of Fayetteville. The goals were attributed to Roanoke’s Stephen Alvo, Jake Goldowski, and Dillon Radin each getting one. Nick Ford scored twice, assisted by Nick DeVito and Billy Vizzo on both. Fayetteville’s lone goal came from D-Jay Jerome.
The Rail Yard Dawgs ended their three-game losing streak with this win. Fans are hoping the Force remains strong with them as they take on the Knoxville Ice Bears next!
