KNOXVILLE, Tenn – The Knoxville Ice Bears hosted the Macon Mayhem Saturday night in front of the fans at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
These two teams wasted no time to get the scoring started in their second meeting of a back-to-back weekend series. Knoxville’s Bailey Conger started the scoring just 10 seconds into the game, and Wyatt Trumbley answered just 21 seconds later. The scoring did not stop as the two teams ended the first period with Macon holding a 4-3 lead headed into the first intermission. Knoxville was able to pull ahead in the second period to take a 7-5 lead. Knoxville held onto the lead and finished with an 8-6 win over the Macon Mayhem, clinching a playoff spot. The Ice Bears are the only team in the SPHL to appear in the playoffs every season of the leagues existence.
