JACKSONVILLE – The visiting Orlando Solar Bears blanked the Jacksonville Icemen Wednesday night, earning Brad Barone his third shutout of the season in the 1-0 victory.
Shawn Element had a tip-in goal for Orlando with nine minutes left in the game. There was nothing that netminder François Brassard could have done to stop that puck getting past him.
With their goaltender pulled and a late power play opportunity, the Icemen had a two-man advantage for the last 1.24 of the game. The Icemen seemed out of sync with their passing as they tried to enter the zone, with precious seconds coming off the clock. Barone made three big saves in the final five seconds of the game to keep the Icemen off the board. Both netminders were sensational the entire game, with this game being a goaltending dual. This was the Icemen’s third straight loss, but still remain atop the South Division.
