JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Thursday night, the Jacksonville Icemen took on division rivals the Savannah Ghost Pirates in the regular season’s last match-up between these two teams. Jacksonville broke their six-game losing streak to take a 4-3 victory, putting them back into the No. 1 spot in the South Division.

Savannah was the first to tally a goal by newcomer Colin Doyle, who scored his first pro-career goal in his first game playing with the Ghost Pirates.  Jacksonville responded on a tough-angle shot from Christopher Brown less than two minutes later with an assist from newcomer Ben Taradif. Taradif, in his first game for the Icemen, would end the night with three assists earning himself the No. 2 star of the game. Just past the halfway point of the first period, Jacksonville took the lead on a rebound shot from Jake Goldowski to give them a 2-1 lead.

A bad turnover deep in their zone by Jacksonville early into the second period lead to an unassisted goal by Troy Lajeunesse, for his first pro-career goal, in his first game for Savannah.

Heading into the third period tied at two, defenseman Jacob Friend‘s shot would ring off both posts before heading into the net. The lead didn’t last long for Jacksonville, with Savannah coming right back on a goal by Max Kaufman, tying things up once again. Jacob Goldowski netted his second of the night, with the game-winning goal for Jacksonville at the 8.53 mark of the third, earning him the No. 1 star of the game. Jacksonville outshot Savannah 37 to 16 in the game.
