Welcome to Syracuse Speaks, a podcast for The Sin Bin!
Now in its third season, Syracuse Speaks aims to cover the Syracuse Crunch, its organization, and the AHL from the stands. Host Alexandra Ackerman has been covering Syracuse on the internet since 2008, and aims to share her passion for the team and the league with her listeners.
In this episode, recorded January 26th, 2021, Alex first does some housekeeping pertaining to Syracuse’s training camp before welcoming guest Patrick Williams! Patrick writes for the NHL.com and has various other projects in the works including co-hosting the Around the A podcast. Throughout the course of this episode, Alex and Patrick discuss the following:
- What it was like on the inside during the days and hours leading up to the AHL officially returning
- Syracuse Crunch owner Howard Dolgon‘s dedication to the fans
- The nitty-gritty on the Crunch’s dual affiliation with the Lightning and the Florida Panthers
- What AHL coaches are going to need to do try to balance their rosters in an upside-down 2020-21 season
- Why so many AHL veterans are finding themselves out of work…and worried
- What parts of the league Patrick is looking forward to being “back to normal”
- Which parts of the league might take some time to return to what fans knew
…and various other things!
Tune in for this lively conversation, and make sure to let Alex and Patrick know your own thoughts!
